The 3rd Annual Americas Venture Capital Conference “Tres Mares Innovation Prize” winner will receive a cash prize and an artistic rendition of innovation, valued at over $5,000
São Paulo, Brazil – August 23, 2012–Today during The Next Web Conference Latin America, Tres Mares S.A. announced it has chosen the Mexican artist Iñaki Bonillas as the featured artist to represent the element of artistic innovation embodied by the “Tres Mares Innovation Prize” at this year’s Americas Venture Capital Conference.
The “Tres Mares Innovation Prize” pursues to distinguish promising innovative enterprises, from South Florida and abroad, whose creative efforts are commanding the development of innovative products or services that impact the region’s economy.
The Prize will be presented at Florida International University’s (FIU) upcoming 2012 Americas Venture Capital Conference. The two-day conference will take place December 13th-14th, 2012 at the JW Marriott Hotel on Brickell Avenue in Miami. The application deadline for presenting companies is Friday, September 14th, 2012.
The winner of the “Tres Mares Innovation Prize” will be awarded a cash prize of $10,000 as well as an original work of art valued at over $5,000 by Iñaki Bonillas. Bonillas is best known for connecting different elements of photography to create distinct works of art that give rise to a new set of images, through contrast, reinterpretation and reinvention of the original source.
“This year Tres Mares has chosen Iñaki Bonillas to represent the award for innovation at the AVCC because his work highlights the importance of the image in communicating new ideas, a central element in this year’s conference,” said Boris Hirmas Said, Chairman of Tres Mares S.A.
The focus of this year’s conference is Data, Design and Dollars. It will feature up to 20 startup and later stage companies, panels and keynote speakers discussing big data and the influence of design in the user experience.

About Iñaki Bonillas
Iñaki Bonillas is an artist living and working in Mexico City. Since the late nineties, his practice has established a deep relationship with photography. Having a close understanding of the aesthetics and conceptual practices initiated in the sixties and seventies; Bonillas has been gradually isolating the constituent elements of photography and connecting them with other procedures.
Iñaki Bonillas is represented by Galería OMR (Mexico City) and Projecte SD (Barcelona). Bonillas has been chosen to participate in this year’s Sao Paulo Biennial by Chief Curator, Luis Pérez-Oramas. The artist recently had a solo show at La Virreina Centro de la Imagen, Barcelona; for which he produced the piece Luminosidad del Error, to be presented at the Sao Paulo Biennial, taking place September 7th through December 9th, 2012.
