A dynamic and innovative leader in the bourgeoning Impact Investment sector, Mrs. Cortez-Young is currently the CEO of Minerva Capital, a double bottom line impact investment firm focusing on the energy and agricultural sectors in emerging markets.
With over 15 years of experience in global finance, where she has served a variety of roles at some of the world’s most prestigious financial institutions, she is currently focused on investing in companies that are developing innovative and sustainable solutions that promote progressive labor practices and environmental standards while generating strong investment returns.
Previously, she served as a Senior Head of Capital Markets at Citigroup Private Bank in Latin America where she was responsible for directing capital market investments for a U.S. investment portfolio of $6bn for ultra high net worth individuals. Her responsibilities included developing hedging strategies for client portfolios, monitoring and managing portfolio risk and overall asset allocation. Prior, Mrs. Cortez-Young held the position of Equity Derivatives Trader at Credit Suisse First Boston, where she was responsible for U.S. and Latin America emerging markets single stock derivative execution, developing derivative trading and hedging strategies and proprietary trading of an emerging market portfolio. Mrs. Cortez-Young started her career as an International Equity Analyst at Goldman Sachs where she implemented, developed and executed the trading and operational infrastructure for the firm’s Brazilian and Mexican operations.
She is currently the Chairman of the Board for the Miami Chapter of 85 Broads, and sits in the board of all Minerva Capital Group’s portfolio companies
Mrs. Cortez-Young holds a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University, Stern School of Business, an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management and an Executive Education Certification from the Harvard Kennedy School of Public Policy.
